A new shop in Wodonga’s main street is offering lamb, chicken, pork and beef roasts to rival any home-cooked meal.
Business has been booming since Rock ‘N’ Roll Roasts opened in High St on January 15.
“One of the things that hasn’t been impacted too much by COVID is food businesses, specifically takeaway food businesses, because everyone has to eat,” Director Colin Robinson said.
“We are really strong on the fact that we have got absolutely sensational food.
“The amount of feedback we have got back so far is extremely positive.”
Mr Robinson operates the store along with two other directors, Stacey Holland and Christine Toohey.
The business has opened on the back of another popular roast business operating in Ballarat for the past five years, which Mr Robinson was a partner in before starting this new venture.
“Wodonga is a great place for business, it’s a growing city and there’s great variety when it comes to business,” Mr Robinson said.
“I am a partner in another Wodonga business (Inflatable Funhouse) which is also going strong.
“It was a no-brainer when I looked at where to open another business.
“We get a lot of great foot traffic being here in the main street and we are starting to notice a lot of tradies come in for a feed.”
Walk into the business and you will find vinyl records adorning the walls and a jukebox playing hit songs from the likes of Elvis and Buddy Holly.
“About 65 per cent of our clientele are over 50 years of age, as the older generation love their roast,” Mr Robinson said.
“Rock ‘N’ Roll is from that era and that’s how we came up with the theme.”
Aside from roast meats and vegetables bought from local producers, great desserts are also on the menu including trifle, Mars Bar cheesecake, ice-cream, pavlova and Toblerone cheesecake.
The food is also available at your fingertips thanks to food delivery services including Menulog and DoorDash.
The business, which employs two full-time workers and ten casual staff, is open Monday to Sunday from 10.30am to 8pm.
