Wodonga Plant Farm’s family-run garden centre is doing business a little different during this lockdown.
Peter Boyle, one of the business partners, said the store was falling in line with many other local businesses and offering a click and collect service while browsing is not an option under current COVID restrictions.
“Spring is our busiest time of year, so this lockdown is tough,” he said.
“On the Saturday prior to lockdown it was crazy with people desperate to get things to do in lockdown but now it’s quiet.
“Our cafe is closed because it’s located inside the nursery, which also makes it tough.”
Mr Boyle believes there’s some confusion in the community with the 5km rule for shopping and says not everyone is aware that the business is open for click and collect.
“People can come to the gate so if they want to select a particular item then we can bring a selection to them,” he said.
With Father’s Day just around the corner, Mr Boyle says the garden centre has some great gift ideas like the Father’s Love or Dear Father roses which are always popular for the occasion.
Other gift ideas include specialised tools such as the Grampa’s Weeder, a stand-up weed puller tool with a long handle that was designed to easily remove weeds while saving your knees and back.
Mr Boyle said vegetables and fruit trees were always great gifts, as well as garden ornaments or even a gift voucher.
The business is located at 5 Huon Creek Rd and can be contacted on 6056 1561 for click and collect.
