Shampooch Dog Grooming Hub’s pawsome services are now available in Wodonga.

Business owner and senior groomer Carley Hatton, who has been a Wodonga resident for the past decade, relocated the business across the border to her home, where working from her converted garage suits both clients and her busy family life.

Shampooch started in November 2021 after a major career change for Carley, who was studying an accounting degree, but quickly found she couldn’t stand sitting at a desk.

“I found working with animals is a better fit for me,” she said.

“I was doing an accounting degree and working in taxes, when it was uni break I started a dog walking business to get some exercise and some work.

“When uni went back I had to hire someone to do the dog walking for me.”

After Covid and the influx of population from Melbourne, there were more dogs than ever in the area requiring her services, so, together with her friend Liz Lambourne, who remains a senior stylist for the business, she stopped filing tax returns and starting filing dog nails, with the creation of her very own salon for dogs.

Naming a business is a hard task and Carley enlisted her friends and family to help chose from a list, with Shampooch coming out on top.

“It was too stressful for me to pick a name,” she said.

Shampooch now employs two senior stylists and two support groomers and Carley is pleased to take on a work placement student once a week.

Shampooch Dog Grooming Hub offers:

  • Dog Grooming;
  • Dog Washing;
  • Nail Clipping;
  • Clipping & Styling; and,
  • Pet Sitting.

She said the business can be very busy, and that they had just finished the “mad Christmas rush”.

They are busier in summer than winter, and she encouraged dog owners to remember to maintain their pets all year round.

“It’s important to get on a schedule – six, eight or 12-week schedules work well and brushing dogs at home is important too,” she said.

Shampooch Dog Grooming Hub is located at 24 Jacka Street, Wodonga. Bookings can be made at shampoochdoggroominghub.com.au and more information can be found on its Facebook page.
