Colour, music and magic for spring event

A finalist on Rita Ora’s team on The Voice Australia will headline the October CoCreate event that aims to colour our world as the community heralds the arrival of spring.

Tanya George has crafted and refined the art of combining elements of soul, jazz and pop, and delivers excellence through her unique and dynamic vocal looping setup.

She was a top five finalist on The Voice Australia 2021 and will be accompanied by multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Lewis Pidutti.

The duo will feature on the main stage with two sets throughout the evening.

Team Leader Events Paige Dalley said with the longer days and warmer nights, CoCreate’s October event presented a blooming great evening of music, dance and art.

“This will be an opportunity for our community to celebrate different cultures, experience a little magic and let their imagination run wild in a night out for the whole family,” she said.

The event includes a range of experiences from Irish dancing to hands-on activities.

Border artist Kade will once again be creating a mural live throughout the night with a floral theme to celebrate spring.

Young people will feature with Cathie’s Celtic Dance and Glorious Kids ConneXtions performing in The Cube Wodonga Courtyard.

Characters from The Other Theatre Company’s upcoming show Spoon River Anthology will be getting everyone in the Halloween spirit with spooky stories and some eerie songs while Dark Arts, a blend of saxophone and live drawing by musician Stephen O’Connell and artist Jennifer O’Hara returns.

In a highly visual fusion of circus and magic, the Quizzical Mr Jeff will bring his novelty and circus skills to Hyphen and the main stage in a show that will delight people of all ages.

And the Indirect Object, which featured at Upstream, returns with Morphology, a rainbow of interactive neon wire sculptures that change shape throughout the night.

The evening will commence with a didgeridoo performance by community member Darren Wighton, and will also feature local performer and musician Josh Quinn.

Hands-on workshops include creating a Flower Power Garden and Pockets of Positivity at Hyphen.

The October CoCreate event is on Saturday, October 15 from 4pm to 8pm in The Cube Wodonga Courtyard. Entry is free and food and drink will be available.
