The perfect pair of shoes is all in the fit and comfort, according to the new owner of Zumii Shoes.
Deb Matijasevic, who took over the business on April 1, says customers are looking for quality material like leather and shoes with in-built support.
“If you get 100 per cent leather then it’s always going to be a good shoe because leather breathes,” she said.
“We have got some new styles in for after five and shoes that can take you from the office to after work.
“We are big on making sure customers are fitted correctly for their shoes, it is part of the service.”
The business, located at 81 High St, is also big on servicing those who are on their feet a lot like nursing home and hospitality workers.
“We have speciality shoes that are recommended by podiatrists which are really good for those who are on their feet most of the day,” Mrs Matijasevic said.
“We also have slippers which open right up with Velcro that are great for nursing home residents.”
Zumii Shoes, previously Bags N Boots, is the longest running shoe shop in Wodonga and stock exclusive brands including Birkenstock, Ziera, Rollie, Clarks and EOS.
“I have been with the business for six years and we changed our name three years ago but we are definitely here to stay,” Mrs Matijasevic said.
A large plush stiletto shoe chair takes pride of place out the front of the store, a recent second hand find by Mrs Matijasevic’s husband.
“He was on the computer and came across it and thought it would be perfect for the shop,” she said.
The marketing prop has been doing its job with many people commenting on the statement piece.
“It stands out from the road and I like to think it brings people into the shop,” she said.
The business also sell handbags, wallets, slippers and a range of shoe accessories like boot polishes.
The store is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and Saturdays from 9am to 12.30pm.
