Works on the reconstruction of South St will begin in the
section from High St to Church St from Monday, September 11. A refinement has
been made to the program to expedite the works and allow this section with a
new median to be constructed to a gravel base suitable for traffic in three
weeks, subject to weather, before works move to northern side of South St and the
roundabout at the Church St intersection in time for the school holidays.
The southern side of South St (the westbound lanes) will
be closed to vehicular traffic for the three weeks of works in this section.
Eastbound traffic will continue on the northern side of South St. There is no
right or left turn from High St into South St during this works period.
Works will follow on the northern side, in the eastbound
lanes for two weeks, subject to weather, and will coincide with the school
holidays. Traffic will flow one-way in a westbound direction during this stage.
Following the construction of this section, works will
move into South St from Church St to Smythe St. Works will begin on the
southern side of South St with two-way traffic maintained on the northern side.
